Our verdict
Toast leads because it was built for restaurants first and everything else second. Lightspeed Restaurant and TouchBistro are strong alternatives, particularly for operators who want more flexibility in payment processing. Square wins for cafés and small counters that value simplicity. AlpacaBOSS is not ranked here: it is a strong cross-industry platform, but restaurant-native order flow is not where it competes.
